Flowers for the Wedding Reception

 Whether you're hosting five or 5,000 guests, flowers at your wedding reception are a must. Nothing else livens up a room like colorful blooms. But with so many wedding planning tasks to perform, how do you find the time to research what you need?

Easy.

Since everyone loves flowers, anything you choose will be appreciated. Even pure white flowers (or nearly so), such as Roses or Magnolias, give a fragrance that creates a lovely atmosphere. Their lack of color brings an air of elegance, too.

But before you drill down to select one or more species, consider where and how the flowers will be placed.

There are the tables, of course. You can go with a large centerpiece, such as a Bird of Paradise. Or, choose some peach-colored Roses and scatter extra petals around the basket in the middle.

If your budget allows, you might want to decorate the backs of the guests' chairs, at least those at the wedding party tables. After all, they should be the center of attention. Orchids make the perfect choice here. To keep the costs down, you could consider some silk versions.

The entranceway will benefit from some large vases on stands or even an overhang design. Vining flowers, such as Creeping Gloxina are rich in color, have outstanding trumpet shapes and turn an ordinary doorway into a grand entrance. Morning Glories are another superb vining flower and they can be used on a trellis, too.

If the wedding party is seated on a stage, the stage front is the perfect place to string long Hawaiian leis of White Orchids, or a string of Orange Blossoms. But the tables at which they're seated can also benefit from vases or fronting. Red Roses can be seen well from a distance, but a bright blue Delphinium is equally at home in that setting.
